Treatments for Acne/Acne Scarring/Problem Prone Skin

ACNE TREATMENTS. (Adult and Teenage Acne).

Acne is the most common skin problem known and can affect adults as well as teenagers. Whether you have just a few spots, or a hundred, doctors call it 'acne'. Typical signs of acne can include one or more of the following: oily/greasy skin, black heads, white heads, red or yellow spots & shiny skin. At Lasersmooth Clinic we are skincare specialists in the treatment for acne and we can offer you Glycolic Acid peels or a range of clinically approved and formulated skin care products by Jan Marini Skin Research (JMSR Europe) which include retinoids and benzoyl peroxides (please see below) for home use. For acne scarring, we use the Genuine Dermaroller^® treatment or Restylane^® dermal fillers or Jan Marini skin care products

WHAT CAUSES ACNE?.

Both men and women have a hormone, called testosterone, in their systems. And this hormone is the main reason for the outbreak of acne. However, you don't necessarily have abnormal levels of testosterone - you have skin which reacts abnormally to this hormone. We have glands in our skin called sebaceous glands. The testosterone tells the sebaceous glands to produce an oily substance called sebum and people who suffer with acne tend to produce more sebum. As a result of this, the sebum builds up in the hair follicle ( the tubes that hold the hair), trapping the the skin cells which line the follicle, and cause a blockage. Combined with extra oil building up behind it, this blockage becomes the perfect breeding ground for bacteria, called p.acnes, which normally live harmlessly on the skin's surface. These bacteria feed on the oil, producing substances that cause the inflammation and redness associated with spots.
